May 6 meeting canceled; election results; 2020-2021 membership dues
Dear Members of the PSOG,
As many of you may already know, your PSOG board of directors has made the difficult decision to cancel our May 6 meeting in consideration of the current restrictions on meetings of more than 10 persons. Additionally, our meeting location, Pensacola Yacht Club is currently closed and has no definite date for resuming normal operations.
All PSOG members will receive our regular monthly postcard reminder, also announcing the meeting cancellation. Soon, you will be receiving our final newsletter of this season. Some will receive it by USPS and everyone will receive notification it is available to be read on our website, www.psog.org. I encourage you to read the newsletter, especially my letter on the front page. In my letter I have named those who have served so admirably on your board of directors and recognized their contributions. I regret that we won’t meet as a group when I might be allowed to recognize all of these dedicated, hardworking PSOG board members personally and before you. If you see any of them over the course of the summer, please thank them for their commitment to our Guild and our mission.
The board of directors would like to thank you, the PSOG membership, for your response to our remote voting for the 2020-21 slate of officers. We had a response of 55% of our membership, which is more than representative of the average attendance at our monthly luncheons. We can be confident that the election is valid and representative.
Those elected to serve for 2020-2021 are President: Trisha Woodburn; 1st Vice President: Lyndi Kessler; 2nd Vice President: Sooz Cobb; Secretary: Ann Mitchell; Treasurer: Marcia Schuffman; Assistant Treasurer: Dawn Cooper. Although we won’t have our traditional induction of officers at a May meeting, the new board plans to begin their work through the coming summer months to be ready to launch the new Guild season in September.
As a reminder: Membership dues of $50/person may now be paid for 2020-2021. Everyone should have received an invoice by USPS recently. You may pay your dues by credit card online at our website, www.psog.org or by mailing your check to PSOG, P.O. Box 1812, Pensacola, FL 32591. All current memberships expire on May 31, so you’ll want to send your renewal right away.
And finally, your current board will be meeting remotely via ZOOM on May 6 to reach agreement on the PSOG contribution to the Pensacola Symphony. We believe you will all take pride in what we expect to be a record-breaking donation from the Guild to the PSO thanks to our outstanding fundraising events and other efforts. We will present our contribution to the Symphony on May 11 at the annual meeting of their board of directors, and we will announce the amount of that contribution to you all as well.
Please accept my deepest gratitude for the privilege of serving as your president these past 2 years. It has been a great pleasure to help lead our wonderful, dedicated membership. On behalf of all of your board, we thank you all for your faithful support of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra Guild and our mission to support the work of our wonder Symphony Orchestra.
Stay well, and have a wonderful summer! We’ll see you in September.
